Food & Beverage business training: Key steps to conducting a first natural capital assessment
The Food & Beverage (F&B) sector heavily relies on natural capital for its raw materials, energy, land, water and a stable climate. This reliance on natural resources means that businesses in the sector directly depend and impact on natural capital. However, hidden environmental costs are externalized and therefore unaccounted for.
If these costs are unknown and unaccounted for, they cannot be factored into business decision-making and businesses cannot strategically address them.
Natural capital information and thinking enables businesses to fully understand their relationship with nature, leading to better-informed decisions.
On 23 March, from 14:00-16:00 CET, We Value Nature together with Nature^Squared will be launching the newly developed module 2 training on natural capital, tailored to the Food & Beverage (F&B) sector. This training builds off of the introductory module provided on 16 March.
By guiding you through the key stages of the F&B Sector Guide to the Natural Capital Protocol and familiarizing you with the TEEB AgriFood Operational Guidelines for Business, this interactive and practical training will provide you with concrete guidance on how you can, as a F&B company, begin to approach a first natural capital assessment.
This training session is targeted at business representatives in the F&B sector interested in learning how to apply natural capital in business (particularly relevant to representatives working in sustainability or related field with initial understanding of natural capital recommended).
Make sure to come prepared to the training by bringing questions and planning to be in a space that enables you to take part in the conversations and group exercises.
