Hi, I am Leslie Berger from ADAS Agri-Environmental consultancy in the UK

I may missed, but what is "small producer" in your point of view?
Leslie Berger
01:11:51
I would be interested to hear how you 'socialize' your findings, what exactly do you mean by this?
Emily Shipman
01:13:44
Marcelo, we worked with producers with

Marcelo, we worked with producers with <2 ha in all studies
Ruth Thomas
01:16:35
You can find 6 company case studies including this work from Olam here https://www.wbcsd.org/Sector-Projects/Global-Agribusiness-Alliance/Resources/Tackling-Food-Loss-and-Waste-Case-studies
Emily Shipman
01:18:52
Hi Leslie, the term socialize findings in the guide refers to engaging / sharing findings with those decision makers in the chain who have control/influence around practice change - lead farmers, agronomists, company leads for procurement, processing and farmer training

Craig Simmons
01:21:39
Craig Simmons from Anthesis here (developers of online Cool Farm Tool and sustainability consultants with an in-house FLW team). Happy to provide a connection to WRAP in the UK. We generated a lot of the evidence base for them on FLW.

01:24:51
Can these tools and measure be used in any market? for example in India - the farmer landholding is >2 ha..
Emily Shipman
01:26:55
Aditi- The Food Lab’s Business Guide was developed specifically for smallholder systems. The Cool Farm Tool can be used with enumerators on small farms. The other tools here were not designed for smallholder ag, specifically.

Thank you..
Kacey Katzenmeyer (Green Strateiges)
01:28:22
Sorry if I missed, but how is this calculator connected to the FLW protocol from WRI?
Kai Robertson
01:32:16
To Kasey's question: The FLW Standard provides a common language for describing what has been quantified and how. The SISC calculator collects data on the 'material types' and 'destinations' and could be used to report an FLW inventory in line with the 8 reporting requirements of the FLW Standard. You can see the 8 reporting requirements in the FLWS. Another example of how WWF used the FLWS to measure on-farm losses is in their No Food Left Behind research (you can find this on FLWProtocol.org).
Leslie Berger
01:33:19
Leigh, good to see the effort to measure in-field losses, many calculators miss this. Does your work include training/advice, or teaming with others who can provide this advice to improve efficiency of production so these losses do not arise in the first place?
Kacey Katzenmeyer (Green Strateiges)
01:33:30
Great, thank you!
Leigh.Prezkop@wwfus.org
01:35:11
Leslie-- we will be publishing a metric guide, in addition the metric, and there is detailed instructions on how to measure in-field loss, with links to videos as well.
Leigh.Prezkop@wwfus.org
01:35:44
Happy to chat more about it, as I agree that it's crucial in getting the most accurate data point for in-field loss
Leslie Berger
01:37:11
We are working with WWF in UK and in India so would be great to speak to you.
Aditi Jhala
01:38:17
Hi Leslie.. what is your scope of work in India?
Leslie Berger
01:39:32
Aditi, let's pick up off line, leslie.berger@adas.co.uk
Aditi Jhala
01:40:03
Ok.. Thank you..
Carlos Saviani (DSM)

How is the food loss quantified for livestock at the CFA? Death, egg breakage, milk loss to mastitis, etc
Daniella Malin - CFA/SFL
01:46:58
Thank you for your question Carlos - I should have said that the FLW metric applies only to crops, not yet to livestock. Thanks for the opportunity to clarify that for all
Ruth Thomas
01:52:12
We will soon be publishing a short 'inventory' listing these and other tools/frameworks/approaches - to help guide companies through selecting the most appropriate for any given business imperative/supply-chain
Aditi Jhala
01:53:39
is there anyway we can get a notification for all the new work done - like mentioned above?
Ruth Thomas
01:53:50
Also please see our Briefing Note on Quantification that begins to identify areas of convergence in accounting for food loss and waste as well as residual challenges (thank you Eric!) https://www.wbcsd.org/Sector-Projects/Global-Agribusiness-Alliance/Resources/Briefing-Note-Product-loss-and-resource-efficiency-challenges-and-trends-of-quantifying-food-loss-and-waste

Aditi - all GAA and WBCSD members will be notified and we will also share from our linked-in pages

Congratulations to the organizers of this webinar, which provided an overview of the various existing tools to quantify food losses and waste and allows the connection with important actors involved in this theme. New initiatives like this should be encouraged. Thank you and greetings from Brazil
